Highlights

The Department of Pathology has just received a generous donation from the Wolfe and Gita Churg Foundation, which will be used to provide seed support for selected research projects of our residents and junior faculty. Departments of Pathology rarely receive gifts of this type, and we are most grateful that the Trustees of the Wolfe and Gita Churg Foundation have chosen our department as the recipient of the Foundation's generosity. We see this as their vote of confidence in the talent of our residents and faculty, and in the promise of their research.

=======================

Dr. Gerlinde Wernig, a first year resident in anatomic pathology, has been awarded the Austrian Scientists and Scholars in North America's (ASciNA) Young Scientist Award for her work in myeloproliferative diseases. The ASciNA Young Scientist Award is granted to Austrian scientists (graduate students or postdoctoral fellows) in North America (USA and Canada) who have performed ground breaking scientific research across all disciplines. The award aims to promote the exchanges within ASciNAs that will help to build scientific bridges between Austria and North America.
