Recent Awards
Brooke Anderson White, PhD, post doctoral fellow in the Bogyo Lab was recently awarded a Knights Templar fellowship. The Knights Templar is a Christian oriented fraternal organization and is the culmination of the York Rite of Freemasonry. This fraternal organization does not claim to be a direct descendent of the ancient order founded in the 11th century but their service in these times reflects the virtues of the Valiant Knights and serves those in need today through charities and support of higher education.
Ed Plowey, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor of Pathology and the Assistant Director of Neuropathology for Ophthalmic Pathology was recently awarded a grant by the American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR) for his research on “Regulation of Dendrite Dynamics and Amyloidogenic APP Processing by Beclin 1”
Ellen Yeh, MD, PhD, Instructor of Pathology is one of the recipients of the 2012 Burroughs Wellcome Career Awards for Medical Scientists for her research study entitled "Function of the plastid organelle in P. falciparum: beyond isoprenoid precursor biosynthesis and blood stage."
2011-2012 Teaching Awards
Each year during the End of Year Celebration for the pathology residents and clinical fellows, awards are given to faculty members and clinical fellows for their distinguised contributions to residency training. This year's recipients are:
Jesse McKenney, MD, Associate Professor of Pathology and Urology - Teacher of the Year for Anatomic Pathology Training
Benjamin Pinsky, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor of Pathology and Medicine (Infectious Diseases) - Teacher of the Year for Clinical Pathology Training
Jennifer Andrews, MD, MSc, Transfusion Medicine Fellow - Fellow of the Year for Clinical Pathology Training
Justin Odegaard, MD, PhD, Chief Resident for Anatomic Pathology - Fellow of the Year for Anatomic Pathology Training
And special awards were given to Mr. Dana Bangs, Supervisor of the Cytogenetics Laboratory for his exemplary contributions in residency training
in clinical pathology and to Ms. Erica Dobo, Pathology Assistant for her outstanding contributions in residency training in anatomic pathology.
