Program Governance & Trainee Mentoring
- Program Directors: Andrew Connolly, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Pathology is the Director of the Residency Training Program.; Neeraja Kambham, M.D. (Associate Professor of Pathology and Director of Renal Pathology) and Iris Schrijver, MD (Associate Professor of Pathology and Director of Molecular Pathology Laboratory and Director of Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship Program) are the associate directors of the program.
- Mentoring Program: Each resident is assigned a faculty mentor on admission to the program; however, residents may change mentors at any time, based on their evolving career goals or for any other reason. In addition, each resident has an annual meeting with the Chair of the department, the program director and the appropriate associate director..
- Residency and Fellowship Committee: The program directors seek consultation with regard to all aspects of the training program from the Residency and Fellowship Committee (RFC). The RFC, which meets monthly, is chaired by Drs. Connolly, Kambham and Schrijver, and includes elected representatives of the residents, the Chief Resident(s), Dr. Connolly, Dr. Kambham, Dr. Schrijver, Dr. Stephen Galli (Department's Chair), and members of the faculty who specialize in clinical pathology, surgical pathology, basic research, autopsy pathology and neuropathology. All rotations are evaluated by the residents, just as the faculty evaluates, and provides feedback to, the residents regarding their performance in their rotations. By working together with our trainees, the faculty strives to continue to refine and improve the training experience in Pathology at Stanford.
